Since your hair is long this is really a lot you can do with it; unfortunately I didn't start to realize that until after I had chopped all mine off!
A good place to start is with a haircut. It doesn't need to be anything drastic, but if your hair was just chopped straight off, this would be a chance to give it some subtle shaping.
Using Pantene Pro-V will really accentuate the natural beauty of your hair, so I recommend using that conditioner (you can use any shampoo with it). It will keep it at it's healthiest for when you want to look your best.
As far as hair styles, if your hair is sleek and gorgeous (how it sounds), just leave it down! Most guys I know always talk about girls with long hair, and they love the look. I guess there's something about seeing it all hanging loose and free and wild.
Alternatively you could do a half-up 'do very simply. You could pull back some hair from the front of your face into a nice knot on the back of your head, or braid some hair on either side of your head and draw it back like a crown. Simple and effective. If you get a few nice hair pins or barettes, it can really complement your outfit and hold your hair tightly in place while looking chic. Scunci has a new (?) line out this year of barettes and stuff with a special layer of some sort of rubber, I guess. It is meant to help hold your hair in place. It is great for keeping silky hair where you put it, instead of having your barette slip out of your hair (also a problem if you have really thick hair).
You can always put it up in a simple bun of some sort and pin several times with bobbie pins. (Use one or two ponytail holders underneath to make sure it's really stable - the bobbie pins should just keep stray ends tucked in so you don't look like you have spikes coming out everywhere. This is probably the best if you are trying to dance around all night. It will look simple, but great, and it won't get all messed up from moving around. If you want to dress it up a little you can always let a little of your bangs or the front of your hair down to frame your face, or even curl a little bit for dimension.
My favorite is kind of a period hairstyle. I like to pull up the back half of my hair into a tight bun so it's off my neck (great for summer!), but I leave the front half down. This way you get to show a little skin on your back, keep cool, and rock the classic free-flowing hair. This look is also not very common (at least where I'm from), so it is pretty much guaranteed to get guys looking. You'll get so many complements on your unusual hairstyle, without going to any kind of extreme like a mohawk or spikes.
Beyond the few examples I've given you, there are really endless variations and possibilities. Braiding is a great thing to keep in mind - it can make knots and such look more interesting, and it keeps your hair in place. Just be creative and don't get down on your hair, because it sounds beautiful.

get a more modern look like layered in front and leave the back long. Use Pantene conditioner for some weeks, makes hair more shiny and appealing then just let your hair down and feel beautiful.

if it's silky and long.... you may want to try some hairstyle which will compliment not contracdict it's good qualities... long and silky hair is what half of the girls in this world wants... i know because we share the same hair qualities, i think... being asian..

bangs are really awesome, they give this certain flair, and try cutting it a little shorter and add layers, it gives body to dull straight hairs...haha...i sound so gay...it freaks me out.

i suggest leaving it how it is and using a anti humidity product. you caould also try loose waves or a headband with straight hair.
